Royal Wedding: Catherine Middleton's Dresses

Sarah Burton--there's a god! As the Creative Director for Alexander McQueen, she is doing a damn good job! Designing not only the wedding gown, but the reception dress as well! I thought the wedding gown was perfect for the occasion: was not revealing...was very sophisticates, and the lace was GORGEOUS! The reception dress was a little bit revealing, but was also perfect. Both gorgeous cuts, fabrics, and lengths.

Well done!

In a new post coming up, you will also see how McQueen is not only getting attention for the royal wedding, but also with the Met Gala.

Paris Fashion Week: Luis Vuitton

Stunning is all I have to say for the Luis Vuitton show! Backstage, Jacobs explained that the fetish idea came from a conversation with LVMH's Bernard Arnault about women's "inexplicable" obsession with bags. "And that got us started thinking about passions, and any of the disciplines that require effort and work and commitment," he said.
The show includes sheer fabrics, furs, leathers, and "to-die-for" bags of course!
not to mention the venue for the show was gorgeous! It was set up like a hotel, with doormen opening the doors for the models to enter through with their amazing garments and gorge bags.

So Lovely!

Mila Kunis-Gorge!

Mila Kunis, in Elie Saab Couture was just absolutely breathtaking! The lace and color is stunning, and especially! We have seen Kunis as the ditsy girl on That 70's Show, or a crazed ballet dancer in Black Swan, but now we see her so angelic and peaceful , and of course, beautiful! Mila was best dressed for me at the Oscars, alongside with Halle Berry, and Kate Blanchet.

Wait...Ursula was at the Oscars?

Umm...so how do you feel about this dress?
Marisa Tomei looks like Ursula from The Little Mermaid...swooshing down the red carpet with her tentacles! Above the hips, dress looks nice, then as you pan down, you are overwhelmed with this...mess of a gown. Love her, not the dress, sorry!! Hopefully we don't see her portray another Disney Villain, like from Snow White or Cinderella, although I would much rather have her look like those then this. Definitely worst dress for me at the Oscars, along with Nicole Kidman and Scarlet Johanson.

All Up In Fashion Week: Marc by Marc Jacobs Edition

Warm colors for the fall are in for the Marc collection. Jades, chestnuts, auburn's, greys, and blacks were seen down the runway for the women's pieces. Everything was well put together, paired up with some chunky, wooden pumps, and bug-eye sunglasses. Jacobs is never a disappointment.

For the men's pieces, plaids, browns, cords, and greens were found on all the garments. All meshed well when it came to men's and women's clothing. Compared to his other collection he launched this fall, it is for sure not as strict and classy as it was. Marc by Marc Jacobs is young, hip, and fun--just like Marc himself.

All Up In Fashion Week: The Row Edition

Once TV stars on Full House, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson have impressed us this year at NYC's Fashion Week. Their line, The Row, consists of strict, classy, and simplistic looks. Along with furs, some bright colors, it creates a complete collection that actually turned out quite nice. After having scandals growing up, and becoming famous because of their child stardom, they have really put all that in the past and have focused on their designs together. Definitely some successful twin sisters.

All Up In Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson Edition

What else to expect from the only any only miss betsey johnson?? Her collection consisted of a lot of fun and crazy ensembles. Of course, pink was included A LOT, along with other sprightly colors like yellow green, etc... If you go to style.com to look at the rest of the collection, you can see that her models change in the show. First with the semi girly/high fashion part of the collection with some serious models. Then her fun and crazy stuff comes out with normal people. It was great to see all these women in blonde wigs with the bright ensembles, looked like a lot of fun! Great thing about Johnson is that even though her garments arent exactly what everyone would wear, she is still incredibly recognized by everyone--so successful!

All Up In Fashion Week: Cynthia Steffe Edition

Browns, reds oragnes, blues--lots of colors for this fall! Not only with Steffe, but with other designers, we are seeing some other colors than those dark ones. Great ensemble here with all the different colors. who would have thought brown-red-grey-leopard would look good?!?
I was able to see a Cynthis Steffe show last spring for the fall 2010 collection. I have definately seen a huge change between the style they have put together. Absolutely gorge .

All Up In Fashion Week: Alice&Olivia Edition

What a cute set up for the photos of the collection! Playful prints, colors, and garments were put together for this fall 2011 collection. This one was my favortie because it captures the bell-bottom 70's look, along with the sprightly colors and prints. Playful meets elegant.

All Up In Fashion Week: Diane Von Furstenberg Edition

Lots of rich colors, skirts, coats, and as seen here, oversized jackets. Absolutely stunning arrangements that walked down the runway. Furstenberg really knew what she wanted when it came to colors and silhouettes.

All Up In Fashion Week: Carolina Herrera Edition

Umm....can I snag this for next fall?
Absolutely gorgeous garments put together on the runway! Herrera has done it again, impressing us with clean cuts, beautiful chiffons, furs, and silky pieces. All together, puts on a great ensemble! Lots of browns, deep reds, blues, and oranges this season!

All Up In Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs Edition

Holy cow I am in love. What a great way to start a new collection, Mr. Jacobs. We are used to seeing freaky yet unique looking models, crazy hair, crazy styles, and colors. For Fall 2011, Marc has done something magnificent, with bold prints, colors, and garments. Unique, diffferent, yet stylish, this designer has accomplished something magnificent...slash I just want the whole collection for myself!

Kudos Marc, you have wooed me again!

Christian Lacroix

I would absolutely LOVE if he had more collections coming up to date. He by far has made it into my top designers. Christian went straight to haute coture instead of the runway when his career came into place, all because of an inspirational quote by his grandfather: "Dresses must be costume".

The site is amazing, please check it out!

Old Films

Jean Harris' Look
Jean Harris' look played by Mitzi Gaynor from the movie Birds and the Bees!

It seems as though the TV screen has taken over my life these sad, long days as I sit on the couch and plop. It has been quite the lazy two weeks for me, but all in good time. My sister has a netflix account, so I was able to choose what films I would be interested in--the decision? Audrey Hepburn, Carry Grant, Mitzi Gaynor, and Frank Sinatra movies=brilliant.

One film I saw, that I absolutely adored, was The Birds and the Bees: plot that consisted of Jean, a beautiful gambler, who was out to take George "Hotsy" Hamilton's (played by George Gobel) money from his inheritance due to Hamiltons hot dogs, while on a cruise through Africa. Sure enough, Jean falls for the man she is trying to trick; hes sweet, sensitive, a little goofy, and a klutz. When George proposes to Jean on the boat, one moonlit night after a tap dance number, she says yes and they are off to home in the morning. Suddenly, George's companion he had on the ship found information revealing that Jean and her father were famous gamblers and are not to be trusted. George calls things off, but meets Jean again a few months later...in his own home! This time, Jean is now Countess Louise and falls in love with George all over again. After getting married and revealing she is no countess, they live happily ever after back on the boat.
Enough with the summary, and on to the fashion!
Jean Harris and Countess Louise had AMAZING Fashion, for it being in the 60's. The stylist for this film must have had a field day when she was able to choose the outifts for Gaynor. Dresses, hats, shoes, pajamas, you name it; everything flirtacious for a very flirtacious young woman. By far, one of the best outfits would be the red dress she wore when she tripped George to get his attention--definately got mine!

The set I made above has some items and garments that would help you invision the lovely Mitzi Gaynor in The Birds and the Bees.

Stay stylish,

Cecilie
